We left Tulsa Bible Church @ 6:50 am.
We took 3 vehicles-- 1 truck full of supplies such as sheetrock and insulation and lots of tools.
There are 10 of us.--
Forrest-- leading the group
Gary, Terry, Michael, Tom, Charles, William, Bill, Danny (not my Danny) and me. Forrest and Terry were in the supplies truck. Terry drove the "Silver Bullet" mini van with his sons-- Charles and William and Michael (Tom's son). We were in the "White Knight" mini van. Gary and Bill switched out driving. Danny was also in our van.
We had lots of snacks with us. We ate breakfast at McDonald's. I ordered a breakfast burrito and coffee. We ate our lunch at Wendy's. We also stopped a few other times to get gas and take a break.
We went through five states in one day-- OK, AR,TN, MS, and finally LA. The trip took 13 hours.
We crossed Louisiana border @ 8:30 pm.
We arrived @ Faith Bible Church in Slidell (pronounced with a long i), LA @ 9:59.
Then we went to a beautiful house owned by David and Wendy who have three cute small children, David-7, Ashley-3, and Joel-almost 2. Their home itself was not affected by Katrina. We had the privilege of staying there for the week. Since I am the cook I enjoyed cooking in Wendy's beautiful kitchen. (She was very kind to help me when I forgot to bring a few important cooking items from time to time.)
