I had to repost this because this big event is only about two weeks away. The recent local news station, KTUL, Channel 8 gave a newstory that you must now have a ticket to attend.

BuriedCar.Com
On June 15, 1957 a brand spanking-new Plymouth Belvedere Sport Coupe was buried in a time capsule under the sidewalk in front of the courthouse of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event celebrated the 50 birthday of Oklahoma's statehood. The car was filled with several artifacts of the time such as:

10 gallons of gasoline
5 quarts of oil
Flags flown over our nation's capital, state capital, Tulsa county and the city

Aerial photos
Statements from all former mayors
Contents of a woman's purse left in the glove compartment--
bobby pins, bottle of tranquilizers, cigarettes, and an unpaid parking ticket!

On June 15, 2007 the car will be unearthed to celebrate Tulsa's Centennial.

If you go to the site Buriedcar.com you will find a video, old photos and a message board and other info about the car and the centennial celebrations.

As I read through the message board, I found an interesting entry. Susan who grew up in California told of her Dad. He has a Plymouth also, a 1957 Savoy, that he purchased in 1959 and next to his family it is his favorite possession. Amazingly so, over the years he has continued to drive it replacing the engine when necessary and striving toward the "mile"stone of a million miles that is getting near!
