“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” -- Hebrew 11:6
I love it when I hear a great story. Today as I sat next to Dottie she told me one.
Dottie and her parents lived in California in the late 1960's. They decided to go on a trip to Pennsylvania to visit family. On the way, her parents wanted to stop in Las Vegas.
Did you know Paul McCartney skipped school when he was 16 years old and wrote the song, Love Me Do."? This was the Beatles first big hit. When the song was released in America Ringo Starr was not the drummer on the record, another guy named Andy White played instead. Ringo played in the English version. Here's an old black and white clip of them singing it.
I substitute taught in a fourth grade class at a private Catholic school in Tulsa, Oklahoma today. When I sub I always study and learn from the details of the room. I try to gather details of what the teacher is like.
God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway . . .
I heard those words in a debut video on CMT this past Saturday. It was the first time I had heard a new song by Martina McBride. When she sings, she sings with passion. She can pour out her soul through her excellent voice while singing at the top of her lungs. My husband and I have a CD in which she sings How Great Thou Art.
Martina debuted the song at the CMA Awards ceremony in 2006. I found the video and I have watched it more than once to study her techniques as she gives the song her very best while we hear it for the first time.
