Gayla is a new employee at work. This past week, I spent about 2 days working next to her. I like her and didn't mind working next to her. We started talking and she told me a few things about herself.
First of all, we talked about where we live and found we both live near each other. I told her she could ride with Stacy and I if she wanted to. She said her husband (boyfriend) brings her to work. She has a car but it's a stick shift and she doesn't know how to drive a standard.
Then she told me something more interesting. She went to a Ted Nugent Concert recently. They stood in line for a long time to get tickets but didn't regret it because they ended up in a good area. The concert was at the Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa and there was standing room only. Ted Nugent was throwing guitar picks out to the audience and she would try to get one whenever she could. Then one came her way. A lady behind her ended up grabbing Gayla's hair but wasn't able to grab the guitar pick. The pick fell to the floor in front of Gayla. Then she stepped on it to make sure she had it. Then while the girl behind her wasn't looking she picked it up. She was asking me how she could sell it. I recommended e-bay. The pick had Nugent's signature on it. I told her she could probably start the bidding at (a low) $20. I also asked her to bring it so we could look at it.
Then Gayla told me of another way you can make some easy money. In our small town, which used to be noted as a truck stop town, our image has changed, to a now, flashy indian casino resort town. Gayla says she goes to the casino every Monday night and gets 5 "free" dollars. Her boyfriend also goes there on Wednesday to get his 5 "free" dollars. She said all you have to do is have a credit card. She says they will give you $5 in either 5 ones or a $5 bill (whichever you choose). Then she said you can either play the gaming machines or walk out right in front of them with the money they just gave you. She said they didn't care. Hey, I did the math, that's $520 in a year. But I don't gamble. I'll just have to keep tithing (paying 10% to my church that I know uses my money for more meaningful causes) and trust God for the good things that he would have for us.
Personally, I think the best way for Gayla to make money is to learn how to drive her standard car. Carpool with Stacy and me to work which will give her even more "free" money the just $5. And focus on being a good faithful worker on the job which will keep honestly-earned money continuously coming in.
